Welcome to Cornerstone Bible Church of Durham.
We are a nondenominational fellowship anchored in the authority of Scripture and devoted to the verse-by-verse teaching of God’s Word. Our desire is to see hearts renewed and lives transformed through the power of the gospel.
Because God alone is worthy of all honor and praise, we gather each Lord’s Day to worship Him, proclaim His truth, and build one another up in faith, hope, and love. We invite you to visit and experience the joy of a Christ-centered, Word-centered community.
Giving cheerfully is part of our worship. Your generosity allows us to help more people experience the life-changing impact of faith.
We are part of something big—an amazing adventure of stepping out in faith to offer the hope and healing of Christ. We believe in the transformation of the whole person: physically, emotionally, and spiritually, whether in our own backyard or on the other side of the planet.
Cornerstone Bible Church is closely connected with Shepherds Theological Seminary in Cary, NC, a ministry training institution known for its commitment to biblical inerrancy, expository preaching, and the development of servant-hearted church leaders.
Many of our guest preachers, teachers, and ministry partners are students or graduates of STS, and we warmly support the seminary’s mission to equip men and women for faithful ministry in the local church.
This connection helps ensure that the teaching and leadership at Cornerstone remain deeply rooted in a high view of Scripture, doctrinal clarity, and Christ-centered ministry.
More than 35 years ago, Cornerstone Bible Church began as Tri-City Baptist Church, a vibrant fellowship of over 300 believers. The church gathered in a spacious sanctuary—where the Mt. Moriah Road Home Depot parking lot stands today—and was blessed with strong seasons of growth and ministry.
During those early years the church experienced several pastoral transitions, including the leadership of Pastor Lamar Mooneyham, who later accepted a call to Northside Baptist in Charlotte. Though the following season brought challenges and change, God faithfully preserved a group of committed believers who desired to continue worshiping together, studying the Scriptures, and serving their community.
That faithful remnant ultimately became Cornerstone Bible Church—a congregation built not on buildings or pastors, but on the unchanging truth of God’s Word and His sustaining grace.
